Encourage without adding pressure
When someone is nervous about an exam, a difficult conversation, a new job, or a recovery that takes time, it can help to hear that their effort is already visible. You don’t have to promise that everything will work out. Offer confidence in them, not a guarantee about the outcome.
For a setback, acknowledge the disappointment before trying to cheer them up. “That sounds hard, and I’m proud of how you’re meeting it” can make space for both feelings at once.
